| Abstract | This study investigates the influence of medium components on the antibacterial activity of cyanobacteria isolated from Salim Ali Lake, Aurangabad, using the Plackett–Burman design. Three isolates, identified as Spirulina maxima, Microcystis aeruginosa, and Oscillatoria amphibia, were tested for antibacterial properties. Among these, methanol extracts of Microcystis aeruginosa showed the highest inhibitory effects against multiple bacterial strains. Statistical optimization revealed that magnesium sulfate and citric acid significantly influenced antibacterial compound production. The results highlight the potential of cyanobacteria as a natural source of bioactive compounds with pharmaceutical importance. |
