Dynamic Pricing in the Final Countdown: How Airlines Maximize Revenue and Shape Customer Trust and Buying Behavior

Author(s) Naina Avinash, Gagandeep Sodhi
Country India
Abstract Unsold seats on airlines represent permanent lost revenue opportunities. Dynamic pricing, especially in the last 24 hours before departure, maximizes revenues for the airlines while it influences customer trust, satisfaction, and purchase-oriented behavior. This paper reviews literature, industry studies, and regulatory insights that explain the dynamic pricing mechanism, its psychological effects on travelers, and strategies for balancing profit with long-term loyalty.
