| Abstract | Post-operative pain is a major concern in head and neck surgical oncology patients often exacerbated by the psychological burden of cancer treatment and surgical stress. It is often moderate to severe and exacerbated by anxiety, unfamiliar sensory stimuli and sleep disruption. Nonpharmacological strategies such as environmental distraction particularly nature viewing have emerged as valuable adjuncts in pain management. This article explores the effect of nature-based visual distraction on post-operative pain perception in head and neck surgical oncology patients emphasizing its role in improving recovery, enhancing psychological well-being and reducing dependence on analgesics. |
| Keywords | Environmental distraction, Nature viewing, acute pain, head and neck surgical oncology, pain perception, post operative. |
