Abstract This research article analyzes the historical development of women's education in the Indian subcontinent from 1801 AD to 2000 AD. It explores the challenges faced, the pivotal contributions of social reformers and missionary organizations, and the impact of governmental policies. Further, the article argues that women's education, once an unimaginable concept due to social and religious barriers, underwent a significant transformation over two centuries, becoming a fundamental right and a powerful tool for national progress. Not only had that it also examines how education has empowered women to move from a state of domestic confinement to becoming active participants in socio-economic and political spheres.
