Abstract This study investigated the relationship between ego resilience, loneliness, and self-esteem among academically relocated college students in Tamil Nadu. A total of 151 participants, aged 18–25 years, were selected through purposive sampling. Standardized instruments—The Ego Resilience Scale (ER89), UCLA Loneliness Scale (Version 3), and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale—were administered, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The results showed a significant negative correlation between ego resilience and loneliness (r = –0.399, p < .01). This suggests that higher resilience is linked to lower levels of loneliness. A moderate positive correlation between loneliness and self-esteem (r = 0.440, p < .01) was also found. This implies that students may keep or even boost their self-worth despite feeling socially disconnected, possibly due to cultural factors or coping strategies. Moreover, a weak to moderate negative correlation between ego resilience and self-esteem (r = –0.311, p < .01) was identified. This indicates that resilient individuals may depend more on their internal coping resources than on their self-worth evaluations. Overall, the findings highlight resilience's protective role in helping relocated students adjust. The study suggests that programs to build resilience, peer mentoring, and supportive school policies are important for promoting mental well-being and minimizing the negative impacts of relocation.
