Abstract Currently increasing societal emphasis on personal appearance and self-grooming has led to the widespread adoption of new lifestyle habits which involves extensive use of cosmetic and chemical containing grooming products and also exposure to harmful environmental factors that leads to some or the other dermatological disorders. One of the serious skin disorders is Psoriasis which affects 2-3% of the world population and the prevalence in adults is reported to be 0.5-11.4% while in children it ranges from 0.1-1.4%. Although psoriasis is fundamentally an autoimmune skin disorder but its onset and progression are severely affected by the environmental factors and genetic background that ultimately dysregulates the immune response of person that serves as a triggering factor and leads to this disease. The clinical management of psoriasis involves the use of various topical preparations but these synthetic preparations available in market are associated with significant limitations and likely to cause numerous side effects, diminished efficacy over time, the potential drug resistance and high treatment cost all of these results to poor patient adherence. In order to achieve innovative and potent formulation the current work intends to develop Quercetin loaded Nanoparticles incorporated into Hydrogel matrix for topical application. This novel delivery system is designed to overcome the limitations associated with convectional therapies by enhancing drug stability, improving localized delivery and ensuring sustained release at target site. The in vitro anti psoriatic evaluation of the developed formulation demonstrated a significant inhibition rate of 84.6% thereby indicating strong potential for the management of psoriasis.
