Abstract Concrete structures, such as bridges and buildings, are critical infrastructure components that require continuous monitoring to ensure safety and longevity. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has evolved significantly with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), enabling automated detection of damages like cracks, corrosion, and vibrations. This paper reviews the applications of AI, particularly Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL), in SHM for concrete structures. Key methodologies, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for crack detection and vibration-based analysis, are discussed alongside their benefits, challenges, and future directions. Drawing from recent studies, AI enhances precision, reduces manual inspections, and supports predictive maintenance, contributing to sustainable infrastructure management.
