Abstract The Striated Babbler- Argya earlei is a partial migrant bird species from the family Leiotrichidae. It is a resident species in the Himalayas, with a distribution range that includes India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Although the bird is commonly found in other districts of West Bengal, with some photographic and statistical records available (eBird 2023-24), surprisingly, it has never been recorded in Dakshin Dinajpur district, despite the presence of similar and suitable habitat conditions. In this paper, we report the first sighting record of this species from Bhaluka Beel, a wetland area from Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, India with photographic evidence.
