| Abstract | Abstract Terrorism remains one of the most significant challenges to India’s national security, with implications that extend beyond immediate loss of life and property. Rooted in diverse socio-political, religious, and cross-border dynamics, terrorism in India undermines public safety, destabilizes democratic institutions, and hinders economic development. The persistence of insurgencies in regions such as Jammu & Kashmir, the North-East, and areas affected by left-wing extremism highlights the complexity of the issue. Moreover, cross-border terrorism, facilitated by state and non-state actors, has added a strategic dimension to the threat. This study seeks to examine the multifaceted impact of terrorism on India’s national security by analysing its effects on political stability, economic resilience, military preparedness, and social cohesion. By drawing from case studies, security reports, and policy analyses, the research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges terrorism poses and explore the effectiveness of India’s counter-terrorism strategies within the broader framework of internal and external security policies. |
