Does Artificial Intelligence Kill the Spirit of Literary Forms?

Author(s) Dr. RAKESH CHANDRA

Abstract Arguably, Artificial Intelligence is the most impactful factor in the life of the common man. It has touched almost every aspect of life. However, its use in the field of art and literature has raised several eyebrows amongst the critics and litterateurs alike. The main points of concern are related to ethics, plagiarism and the growth of dishonesty. With the help of AI, a sudden spurt of artists, authors and other literary people has sprung forth on the literary horizon. Now, anyone can become a writer, poet, artist or so, within no time. There is no need for talent and calibre. As a consequence, a large number of such fake talents in the field of art and literature are producing their AI-inspired works without making any substantial effort. Not only this, these pseudo-artists and writers are also making money. In the field of cinema, AI-generated scripts and music have become the order of the day. Another frightening aspect is the growth of vandalism. Some unscrupulous people have even tried to create caricatures and funny variants of many famous paintings by renowned painters. The disfiguration of the world-famous painting of Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci is a classic example. In short, the world of literature and arts is likely to experience a cataclysmic change in the near future if the proper checks and controls are not exercised by the lawmakers in this regard. This paper explores various dimensions of the effects of AI in the regime of art and literature and tries to find the probable answers.
