Eco-Friendly Dry Cloth Chamber – A Solar-Powered Smart Drying System

Author(s) Ms. Suruchi Kumari R
Country India
Abstract Drying clothes during rainy seasons, winter months, and in poorly ventilated houses remains a major challenge, especially for low-income families. Conventional electric dryers consume high electricity, are expensive, and may damage clothes due to excessive heat. This research presents an eco-friendly, solar-powered dry cloth chamber that automatically monitors humidity and temperature to ensure safe and hygienic drying. The system uses a DHT22 sensor to control airflow through DC fans, preventing overheating and fabric bleaching. Powered entirely by solar energy, the chamber also integrates a rainwater harvesting system to promote water conservation. Experimental results indicate improved drying efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and enhanced sustainability, making the solution suitable for rural and urban households.
