| Abstract | Background: Cervical cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women in developing countries. Inadequate awareness and negative attitudes toward screening and prevention contribute to delayed diagnosis. Haritha Karma Sena members, as community-level workers, can play a vital role in health promotion if adequately educated. Aim: To assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching programme on knowledge and attitude regarding cervical cancer among Haritha Karma Sena members. Methods: A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was adopted. Sixty Haritha Karma Sena members were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire and a 5-point Likert attitude scale. A structured teaching programme was administered, followed by a post-test. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The mean post-test knowledge and attitude scores were significantly higher than the pre-test scores (p < 0.001). The structured teaching programme was effective in improving both knowledge and attitude regarding cervical cancer. Conclusion: Structured teaching programmes are effective educational strategies to enhance awareness and foster positive attitudes toward cervical cancer prevention among community workers. |
