| Abstract | This paper describes a highly flexible method which models the thermal performance of any energy system at steady state. A steam power plant (Libya-Derna 65 MW) is mathematically represented by a system of algebraic equations. The method outlines the steps taken in the development of energy systems general model including the mass and energy balances and exergy loss. A computer program was written based on the mathematical model of the selected steam plant. The results show good agreement with the actual data. The necessary instructions are provided for the application of the method to a large variety of energy systems types. The implantation of the method is discussed in detail and example of application is given. |
