Data Privacy and Security Concerns in AI-Enabled Libraries

Author(s) Dr. Chandramani Kailash Gajbhiye
Country India
Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming library services by improving accessibility, personalization, and operational efficiency. However, its integration raises serious concerns regarding data privacy and security. AI systems require massive data inputs, often including sensitive personal information, which creates vulnerabilities to breaches, surveillance, and misuse. This paper explores the implications of AI adoption in libraries from a privacy and security standpoint. It examines key definitions, recent literature, and practical challenges, and presents a critical analysis of the risks and safeguards necessary for ethical AI implementation. The study highlights the need for robust data governance frameworks and digital literacy to maintain user trust in AI-enabled library ecosystems.
