| Abstract | Educational institutions increasingly rely on information systems to manage administrative tasks. This paper presents a PHP-MySQL web application designed as an efficient School Management System (SMS) to automate key functions (student and staff records, attendance, leave requests, reports) across multiple roles (teachers, HOD, principal). The system follows a 3-tier architecture (MySQL backend, PHP logic, HTML/JS frontend), requiring only an internet connection and minimal infrastructure. The implementation includes secure user authentication (password hashing), role-based dashboards, and on-demand report generation. For example, as shown in Figure 1, the login interface prompts users for credentials before directing them to their respective dashboards. Our experiments confirm that the system streamlines routine operations and improves data transparency. Citations from prior work underscore that SMS tools provide timely access to records and analytics, aiding, decision-making in schools. |
