| Abstract | Post-burn axillary contractures cause severe restriction of shoulder abduction and require effective postoperative splinting following surgical release. We describe a case of left axillary burn scar contracture managed by excision of fibrotic bands and multiple Z-plasties without grafts or flaps. A low-cost axillary splint improvised from a wire cloth hanger was used to maintain postoperative abduction, providing a simple, economical alternative to the conventional aeroplane splint. |
