| Abstract | Adolescence is a time when young people begin to ask, “Who am I?” and start shaping their sense of self. It's a period full of questions, emotions, and sometimes confusion. Group bibliotherapy—a process that uses stories and literature in a shared, guided setting—can be a powerful way to help teenagers explore and understand themselves better. In a group, reading and talking about books together lets adolescents connect with characters who may be going through similar struggles or emotions. This shared experience creates a safe space for teens to express their feelings, reflect on their own lives, and feel less alone in their journey. By discussing stories as a group, they not only learn from the characters but also from each other. This process builds empathy, improves emotional understanding, and helps them find words for thoughts they might not have been able to express before. Drawing from psychology and education, group bibliotherapy has been shown to help adolescents develop a healthier, more positive self-concept. It encourages them to think deeply, share openly, and form stronger connections with others. Ultimately, it’s not just about reading—it’s about growing, healing, and discovering who they are through the power of stories. |
