| Abstract | This study evaluates the taxonomic diversity of birds belonging to the Order Accipitriformes in the Kota District of Rajasthan, India. The Order Accipitriformes comprises diurnal raptors that play essential ecological roles as apex predators and scavengers. Using observations, regional avifaunal checklists, field surveys and literature reviews, we documented diurnal raptor birds (excluding falcons) species presence, seasonal status, taxonomic representation, and conservation relevance. The findings highlight the diversity and ecological significance of Accipitriformes within the local avifauna of Kota. Kota, situated in the Hadoti region of Rajasthan, provides a unique riparian and scrubland ecosystem dominated by the Chambal River and its tributaries. We identified a significant presence of the families Accipitridae and Pandionidae. The region is particularly noted for its critical populations of endangered Gyps vultures and resident eagles. This paper details the species composition, residency status, and IUCN conservation categories of these raptors. |
