| Abstract | The aviation industry faces unprecedented pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, dependence on fossil fuels, and environmental degradation while maintaining safety, efficiency, and economic viability. Bioengineered enzymes represent a transformative biotechnological solution capable of supporting sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, aircraft material recycling, green maintenance systems, and life-cycle sustainability of aerospace infrastructure. This research paper presents a comprehensive interdisciplinary investigation into the role of enzyme engineering in aviation science. The study integrates principles of biotechnology, molecular biology, chemical engineering, and aerospace systems to explore how enzymes can revolutionize future aircraft sustainability. Detailed discussions include enzyme structure-function relationships, genetic engineering strategies, industrial-scale biocatalysis, SAF pathways, aircraft composite degradation, regulatory frameworks, and future research opportunities. The paper aims to serve as a foundational academic reference for emerging bio-aerospace technologies. |
