Intracranial Metastasis of Unilateral Retinoblastoma: A Case Report

Abstract The most prevalent intraocular cancer in children is retinoblastoma, which is lethal if untreated.
Management techniques have evolved over the last few decades with the dual objectives of maximising residual vision and protecting the affected eye and life. Systemic chemotherapy, focal therapies like transpupillary thermotherapy, cryotherapy, and laser photocoagulation, radiotherapy, and surgical procedures
are all part of the multimodal treatment. Systemic chemotherapy has been the mainstay of retinoblastoma treatment for the past two decades. The disease's incidence and mortality are high in many regions of Asia and Africa. The lack of consistent treatment guidelines, delayed diagnosis, advanced stage presentation, and restricted access to specialised medical services are all major contributing factors to these worse outcomes. In this report, a case of intracranial metastasis of unilateral retinoblastoma in a two-year-old child is reported.
