Integration of Visual arts and Literature

Author(s) Ms. Kandrela Jyothi Rani

Abstract Colorful pictures paired with engaging stories have long been a powerful way to fascinate young readers, and the integration of art and literature makes their experience everlasting. When visuals and words collaborate, stories move beyond the page and come alive in a child’s imagination. Illustrations help young readers decode meaning, understand emotions, and visualize settings and characters, especially when language skills are still developing. NEP 2020 focuses on this aspect with the inclusion of Art Integrated Projects into the school curriculum. This integration nurtures creativity, sharpens observation, and encourages critical thinking as children learn to interpret both text and visuals together. Art and literature also support diverse learning styles, making reading more inclusive and enjoyable thus accommodating pedagogical approach. By blending storytelling with visual expression, educators and authors create richer learning experiences that spark curiosity, deepen comprehension, and foster a lifelong love for reading, art, and imaginative exploration.
