Rural Women Welfare Schemes And Sustainable Livelihoods: A Political Analysis Of Inclusive Development

Author(s) Ms. Anjali Tushir
Country India
Abstract This paper attempts to understand the interface of government welfare schemes with sustainable livelihoods for rural women in India. Concentrating on major schemes of education, health, employment, and financial inclusion, the paper examines how welfare interventions driven by the state enable women's empowerment and inclusive development. Based on secondary data from government reports, policy papers, and other studies, it tests if these programs have improved the socioeconomic situation of rural women. The results stress that, even having improved access to resources and opportunities through welfare programs, implementation lags, low information or asymmetrical information, and regional disparities still hinder their effectiveness. The paper concludes that for sustainable and inclusive rural development, the processes of good governance must be advanced with grassroots participation.
