Association Between qSOFA Score at Admission and Mortality Among Critically Ill Patients: A Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract	Background: Early identification of critically ill patients at high risk of mortality is essential for timely escalation of care and optimal resource utilization in intensive care units (ICUs). The quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) score was introduced as a simple bedside tool to identify patients with suspected infection who are at increased risk of poor outcomes. While qSOFA has been widely studied in emergency department and sepsis populations, its prognostic utility in a broader cohort of critically ill patients admitted to the ICU remains a subject of ongoing debate. This study aimed to evaluate the association between qSOFA score at admission and mortality in critically ill patients using a retrospective cross-sectional design. Objectives: To determine the association between qSOFA score at admission and mortality among critically ill adult patients and to assess the predictive performance of qSOFA for mortality in the ICU setting.
