| Abstract | Adhesive capsulitis, or Frozen shoulder, is marked by persistent pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion in the shoulder joint. Standard treatments, such as physiotherapy, NSAIDs, and corticosteroid injections, often provide only temporary or partial relief. Marma Science, an ancient healing system, aims to maintain health and treat illnesses by stimulating specific energy points known as Marma. Marma Chikitsa, which involves gentle activation of these points, is traditionally used to alleviate pain and restore function. This case study investigates the impact of Marma Chikitsa on pain relief in a patient with adhesive capsulitis. A 44-year-old woman with a five-month history of right-sided adhesive capsulitis received daily Marma Chikitsa sessions for 21 days, with her progress assessed throughout the treatment. After the intervention, she experienced approximately 70–80% reduction in symptoms along with significant improvement in quality of life. These results indicate that Marma Chikitsa may be an effective, safe, and minimally invasive non-pharmacological approach for managing adhesive capsulitis. |
