| Abstract | The exponential growth of information and communication technology (ICT) has brought fundamental changes in reading practices and the development of reading culture. Reading has shifted from a predominantly print-based activity to a digitally mediated process involving electronic documents, online platforms, and multimedia resources. This paper examines the impact of ICT on reading habits by synthesizing findings from existing literature and conceptual studies. It clarifies the requirements for developing reading culture in digital environments and proposes an integrated definition of digital reading culture. The study argues that reading culture in the digital environment is a combination of reading habits, digital skills, and information literacy. The paper also highlights challenges such as information overload, credibility issues, and superficial reading patterns, and emphasizes the role of libraries, educational institutions, and individuals in fostering a sustainable reading culture in the digital age. |
