Empowering Women in North-East India through Self-Help Groups: Pathways to Leadership and Inclusive Governance

Abstract This paper investigates the role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in empowering women in North-East India, a region marked by ethnic diversity, economic challenges, and social complexities. Drawing on existing literature, government reports, the research evaluates how SHGs have contributed to women's socio-economic development, leadership, and participation in local governance. The study highlights region-specific challenges and successes, offering insights into policy implications and future directions for enhancing the impact of SHGs on women's empowerment and gender mainstreaming in governance.
