Kinship with Nature as Depicted by Ruskin Bond

Author(s) Dr. Vinitha Deepak Vakkayil
Country India
Abstract Ruskin Bond is an Indian author with British descent and is popular for his elegant writing style and themes associated with nature. His enchanting stories of nature and children are woven around the background of the splendid Himalayas. Having brought up in the lap of Himalayas, nature has been his source of inspiration, strength, comfort and solace. He is pained by the degradation of environment and decreasing forest coverage around him. The link with nature and man and its preservation in Bond’s writings has a stronger influence on his readers than any environmentalist’s campaign. The paper presents an Eco- critical analysis of Ruskin Bond's famous short stories as a journey with his characters and their transformation through experiences shared with nature, its flora and fauna
