Abstract The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into academic research has significantly transformed disciplinary methodologies, epistemologies, and modes of knowledge production. While AI-driven approaches are well established in the natural sciences—particularly zoological research—their application in English literary studies remains comparatively under-examined within empirical interdisciplinary scholarship. This study adopts a mixed-method comparative framework combining theoretical analysis and a survey of fifty researchers (male and female) from the domains of Life Sciences and English Literature who actively employ AI in their research practices. Drawing on Science and Technology Studies (STS), Posthumanism, and Digital Epistemology, the article examines disciplinary variations in AI usage, perceived benefits, ethical concerns, and epistemic authority. Findings reveal that while AI is predominantly valued for predictive accuracy and efficiency in zoological research, it functions primarily as an interpretive and heuristic tool in literary studies. Despite these differences, both disciplines converge in their emphasis on human judgment, contextual reasoning, and ethical accountability. The study concludes that AI operates as an epistemic mediator fostering hybrid research paradigms that bridge empirical rigor and interpretive complexity, thereby contributing to evolving interdisciplinary research cultures.
