Abstract Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is a delayed cutaneous adverse drug reaction characterized by well-defined erythematous to hyperpigmented lesions that recur at the same site upon re-exposure to the offending drug. Although commonly associated with antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, chemotherapeutic agents are rarely implicated. Paclitaxel, a taxane widely used in the treatment of breast cancer, is associated with several cutaneous adverse effects; however, paclitaxel-induced fixed drug eruption is rare. We report a case of fixed drug eruption secondary to paclitaxel in a patient with metastatic breast cancer. The reaction was clinically evaluated by a dermatologist and systematically documented, assessed, and reported through adverse drug reaction monitoring and pharmacovigilance practice.
