Beyond Borders: The Evolution and Impact of Hindi Diaspora Writing

Author(s) Dr. Preeti Sharma Sharma
Country India
Abstract This study examines "Pravasi Sahitya" (Diaspora Literature), a significant subgenre of Hindi literature authored by writers who now live outside of their country of origin. From the forced migration of 19th- century "indentured" labourers to the voluntary migration of contemporary "neo-immigrants,'' this study charts the historical development of the term "Pravasi".' Digital media and globalisation have given diaspora literature a wide audience, making it possible for it to be incorporated into mainstream Hindi literature. This enhances Hindi by adding new socio-psychological themes, expanding literary genres, and introducing linguistic innovations like "Fiji Baat" and "Sarnami". Tejendra Sharma, Ramdev Dhurandhar, and Abhimanyu Anat are among the well-known authors whose contributions are assessed in this paper. It also emphasises how important academic institutions and the World Hindi Conferences have been to the spread of this literary movement throughout the world.
