| Abstract | The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), launched in 2015, represents a transformative governmental initiative to address the longstanding credit gap in India's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. As of February 2025, PMMY has sanctioned over 52 crore loans worth ₹32.61 lakh crore, benefiting millions of micro entrepreneurs across the nation [1]. This research paper provides a comprehensive assessment of PMMY's performance, impact on financial inclusion, and contribution to entrepreneurial empowerment, drawing on official government data, impact assessment studies, and contemporary evidence. The study reveals that PMMY has successfully enhanced access to formal credit for previously underserved populations, though challenges remain in achieving equitable reach across regions and demographic groups. The analysis demonstrates significant achievement in loan disbursement, particularly among women entrepreneurs and marginalized communities, while simultaneously highlighting persistent issues related to Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), regional disparities, and institutional capacity constraints. This paper synthesizes findings from NITI Aayog's comprehensive impact assessment, MUDRA's annual reports, and contemporary research to provide actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders committed to sustainable financial inclusion and inclusive growth. |
