| Abstract | ESG considerations serve as a crucial basis for business decision-making, regulatory compliance, and a firm's sustainability. This paper aims to analyze sectoral differences in ESG performance among Indian firms, utilizing ESG scores from 828 firms across 23 industries in the CRISIL ESG Compendium 2024. In this context, descriptive statistics, One-Way ANOVA, and Post-Hoc tests have been performed to find out sectoral differences in the adoption of ESG. The findings show that the IT and banking industries perform better in terms of ESG practices due to strong governance and a lower environmental footprint, although resource-intensive sectors like the auto ancillary, textiles, and metals industries fall behind in terms of environmental sustainability. Thus, the above findings prove that there is a statistically significant difference in ESG performance across industry-specifically, environmental versus governance scores. These findings reveal that there is an urgent demand for industry-specific ESG practices and better corporate sustainability initiatives, with increased regulatory compliance to achieve sustainable business growth in India. |
