| Abstract | In type 2 diabetes mellitus initial insulin resistance progress gradually which alters body homeostasis, resulting in glucose intolerance ultimately leading to hyperglycaemia, obesity, Dyslipidaemia, and lipid peroxidation, Insulin affects many sites of mammalian lipid metabolism causing an increase in triglyceride levels, LDL-cholesterol and decreased levels of HDL-C. It stimulates the synthesis of free fatty acids due to insulin resistance and is a major cause of cardiovascular diseases especially in the Indian population. From this point of view, the assessment of various lipid fractions and lipid peroxide in the cases of diabetes mellitus may be helpful in the prognosis of patients and in preventing the possibilities of complication or secondary disorders. The drug therapies in Dyslipidemia with types 2 diabetes undergo statin therapy and sometimes require multidrug treatment. |
