Sustainable Development Goals and their challenges in Implementation in Higher Education: A conceptual analysis

Abstract Higher education (HEIs) plays a vital role in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals by preparing students with knowledge, abilities and values they need to address global issues. Incorporating the sustainable development goals (SDGs) into higher education is important for future leaders and responsible global citizens in addition to fostering academic innovation. This paper will examine the main challenges in implementation of SDGs in higher education focusing on interdisciplinary research, curriculum development on Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) related themes, campus sustainability programe and collaboration with government. It also highlights strategies and recommendations for successful integrating SDGs into higher education. The increasing emphasizes on sustainability in academics focus on broader shift towards responsible and holistic development which aligns with education.
