| Abstract | Qualitative research gained prominence in all research areas. It provides a lens for what happens naturally in our surroundings. How do the researchers observe, understand, and interpret situations? The workshops provide in identifying and exploring relevant factors in understanding complex and knowledge-based aspect of qualitative research methodology, which is also supported by technology. The workshops on specific themes are designed to fulfil research purposes. The present study was designed to study the impact of a qualitative research methodology workshop on the researcher’s learning and skill development. This study was based on pre and post-surveys and interviews of the research scholars engaged in a 10-day qualitative research training workshop. The participants were those research scholars who are currently enrolled in Ph.D. Programme across India and are doing qualitative research in the field of social sciences. 15 research scholars were selected for this study out of 30 population sizes. The findings suggest that different methods like hands-on activities, practical experiences, field trips, group discussions, use of ICT, and participant engagement were used to enhance the researcher’s learning in the workshop for skill development. There is a significant difference between the researcher’s skills possessed before and those acquired after attending the workshop. It was also found that all the researchers agreed to conduct qualitative research based on different approaches. Various problems and challenges were identified and noted by the researchers during the training of the workshop. |
