Green Computing: Applications, and Constraints for Sustainable Digital Systems

Abstract	The rapid expansion of digital infrastructure has significantly increased the environmental footprint of computing systems. This paper examines green computing as a comprehensive approach to improving energy efficiency, resource optimization, and lifecycle sustainability in modern IT environments. It analyzes energy-efficient hardware, virtualization, thermal-aware computing, intelligent cooling systems, and sector-specific applications such as healthcare IT. Through a review of current research, case studies, and emerging technologies, the study highlights both the benefits and limitations of green computing adoption. The findings emphasize the need for integrated technological innovation and supportive policy frameworks to enable sustainable, scalable, and environmentally responsible computing systems.
