Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics are rapidly transforming hospital care by augmenting clinical decision-making, streamlining workflows, and improving patient outcomes. Advanced AI techniques (machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, expert systems) now support early diagnosis, personalized treatment planning, efficient patient triage, and optimized resource allocation. For example, ML models have predicted emergency admissions hours in advance, and CNNs have exceeded human performance in imaging diagnostics. Across both high-resource and low-resource settings, AI applications – from sepsis detection to outpatient flow forecasting – show promise in reducing errors and delays. However, successful integration faces challenges of data quality, model interpretability, ethical bias, and infrastructure gaps. This review synthesizes over 30 recent studies and reports (global
perspective) on AI in hospitals, covering methodology, key use-cases (diagnosis, triage, treatment recommendations, resource management, outcome prediction), illustrative examples, and the ethical/regulatory issues. Our findings highlight AI’s potential to improve efficiency and accuracy in patient care, while underscoring the need for governance, transparency, and context-specific adaptation.
