| Abstract | Purpose : The purpose of this review paper is to synthesize existing research on emotional transactions between parents and young adults, examining the interplay of gender dynamics in these intergenerational relationships. By analyzing secondary data, this study aims to identify patterns, trends, and gaps in current literature, providing insights into how emotional exchanges shape relationships between parents and young adults across different gender contexts. Design : The study is based on secondary data, which has been sourced from various platforms including Google Scholar, the internet, existing literature reviews, books, and blogs. Findings : Emotional transactions between parents and young adults are complex and influenced by gender dynamics, cultural context, and societal norms. Research suggests that mothers tend to be more emotionally expressive and involved in emotional support, while fathers focus on practical aspects. Daughters are often socialized to express emotions like empathy and nurturing, whereas boys are encouraged to suppress emotions like sadness and fear. Paper type : Review paper |
