| Abstract | Agricultural credit plays a critical role in sustaining farm productivity and supporting rural livelihoods, particularly in regions where farming remains the primary source of income. Despite the availability of institutional credit through different banking systems, variations in service delivery may influence farmers’ satisfaction levels. The present study analyses and compares farmer satisfaction towards agricultural credit services provided by commercial banks and Co-operative banks in Chittorgarh district using primary data. A quantitative and comparative research design was adopted, and data were collected from 278 farmers, comprising 117 respondents associated with commercial banks and 161 respondents associated with Co-operative banks. Farmer satisfaction was measured using a structured questionnaire consisting of twelve satisfaction-based Likert statements, and the data were analysed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t test. The findings indicate a statistically significant difference in overall satisfaction levels between the two groups, with farmers associated with commercial banks reporting higher mean satisfaction scores than those associated with Co-operative banks. The results highlight meaningful differences in perceived service effectiveness across banking institutions and underscore the need for improved credit service delivery in the Co-operative banking sector. The study offers empirical evidence that can assist policymakers and banking institutions in strengthening agricultural credit systems and enhancing farmer-oriented financial services. |
