Regionwise comparative study of MSMEs units in Karnataka

Abstract The Indian MSMEs have emerged as a major driving force in the Indian economy in the recent years. These MSMEs contribute 30% of the Indian GDP and also 45% of the Indian exports (as per 2022-23 MSMEs Report). These are major complementary to the large industries in India. The MSMEs supports to the government in industrialisation of semi urban and rural areas. These are producing various products and also rendering variety of services to fulfil local as well as global demands. The MSMEs are second largest provider of employment after agriculture.
The present paper is an attempt to throw a light on MSMEs of Karnataka state through a comparative study of various regions. It attempts to focus on region wise number of units in the state.
