Glycolysis in cancer - targetting PKM2

Author(s) Mr Shashank K S
Country India
Abstract "Glycolysis, a hallmark of cancer metabolism, is often upregulated even in oxygen-rich conditions. Pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2), a key glycolytic enzyme, plays a critical role in this 'Warburg effect'. Here, we discuss PKM2's unique regulation and its implications in cancer progression. Targeting PKM2 emerges as a promising therapeutic strategy, with potential to disrupt cancer cell metabolism and inhibit tumor growth."
Keywords The Warburg Effect, PKM2 Isoforms, PKM2's Role in Cancer, Targeting PKM2 in Cancer Therapy.
