Abstract In today’s dynamic world which pose unprecedented complexities and high volatility, timely decision making has become an essential part of every business to have a strong stand in competitive global environment. Supply chain management roots from pre - industrial revolutions where mass production and transportation improvements existed. Improving decision making in supply chains is a key element to competitiveness that requires the best data and analysis. Also, there are many risks involved due to factors like market and financial volatility, dynamic socioeconomic features, security issues, infrastructural challenges, uncertainty caused by delays and disruptions in distinct points of the supply chains. Modern supply chain operations must be anticipatory and agile, we can no longer rely on reacting to events as they occur. A reactive approach to supply chain management may create chances for bottlenecks, slowdowns, stockouts and unsatisfactory customers. To support such an unpredictable business, supply chains require a shift from re-active to pro-active Data driven decision approach. This paper explores how applying Data analytics and machine learning enhances data driven decision making in supply chain management focussing on key functions of supply chain like demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and logistics planning. Data-driven decision-making involves adopting just-in-time inventory procedures, which reduces on excess inventory and economize holding expenses. Furthermore, dynamic modifications to production and distribution schedules are made possible by real-time data, guaranteeing that the supply chain stays flexible and sensitive to shifts in the market. Data in supply chain management will play a key role in supporting operational excellence targeting sustainable development in businesses and continue to embrace digital technologies and data-driven strategies. The study concludes stating that Supply chain management is not just an advantage to the modern businesses but a basic necessity for navigating the uncertainties in contemporary business environment.
