Author(s) Ms. MEENAKSHI G SHELLIKERI
Country India
Abstract Bamboo is emerging as a sustainable alternative to conventional construction materials due to its rapid growth, high strength, and carbon-sequestering ability. This study evaluates its environmental impact, structural performance in seismic regions, and cost-effectiveness. Through global case studies, it highlights bamboo’s potential to reduce emissions, lower costs, and support local economies, while addressing challenges such as durability, pest resistance, and regulatory barriers. The research emphasizes innovative treatment and hybrid techniques, positioning bamboo as a resilient and eco-friendly solution for future construction.
Keywords Green building, low energy use, earthquake resistance, structural adaptability, sourcing of local materials, durability, sustainability certification, and aesthetic versatility.
