Abstract Parenting a child with autism spectrum disorder involves ongoing caregiving responsibilities that can significantly affect the psychological well-being of parents. The present study aimed to examine the relationship between parental stress and perceived social support among parents of children with autism. A quantitative correlational research design was employed, with a sample of 100 parents from Chennai selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Parental Stress Scale and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation, was carried out using SPSS. The findings revealed a mean parental stress score of 58.80 and a perceived social support score of 49.38. A strong negative correlation (r = -0.956, p < 0.01) was observed, indicating that higher perceived social support is associated with lower parental stress. The results highlight the importance of strengthening social support systems to improve parental well-being.
