Correlation of Self-efficacy and Achievement Motivation of High School Students

| Abstract | The motivation to achieve one's goals is one of the most important qualities of a man's personality. It is important to have a good life. In order for children to be successful in this competitive society, they need to be motivated by the pursuit of accomplishment. The self-efficacy of an individual can have an impact on the choices that they make about their behaviour, motivation, thought patterns, and responses, among other things. Both the self-efficacy and achievement motivation have the potential to impact an individual's overall progress in their learning process. To study the relationship between the self-efficacy and achievement motivation of the high school students, the data is collected from total of 100 students, comprising 50 male and 50 female participants. The study involved high school students from both the arts and science groups. The instrument for self-efficacy and accomplishment motivation was created by the researcher with the assistance of the research supervisor. Result of the study indicated that female students have more self-efficacy and achievement motivation than their counter parts. The Science group students also have more self-efficacy and achievement motivation when compared to the arts group students. There is positive relationship between achievement motivation and general self-efficacy. |
