Beyond the Battery: A Critical Evaluation of Hydrogen’s Integration into the 2026 Global Energy Mix

Abstract y early 2026, the transition from Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) to a model of "technological co-existence" has redefined the clean energy landscape. This paper argues that hydrogen’s true utility has shifted from the passenger car market to "hard-to-abate" sectors like heavy-duty transport and long-haul logistics. Focusing on the Asia-Pacific region, we analyze how market-driven adoption and modular infrastructure are replacing subsidy-dependent pilots to secure hydrogen's role in global decarbonization.
