| Abstract | This is a broad-based research that presents the complex issues surrounding the effect of eco-tourism on the development of the regions in the state of Kerala in India. Since eco-tourism is becoming a key focus in terms of economic development, it is important to comprehend its negative impacts and challenges to sustainability. This study methodically examines the environmental erosion, socio-cultural displacement and infrastructural pressure that tend to accompany the booming eco-tourism. By means of an intense analytical methodology, the research will outline particular barriers to sustainable development, which will present a subtle insight into the need to balance economic ambitions with environmental conservation. The results will be used to enlighten and advise policy makers, local communities and the tourism operators on how they can create workable plans on responsible eco-tourism development in order to protect the rich biodiversity and cultural integrity of the land of Kerala, to be passed down to the future generations. |
