| Abstract | In the heart of Boston, a City renowned for its historical and intellectual legacy, and two different but philosophically connected movements – Engaged Buddhism and Transcendentalism have mushroomed. Both movements are separated by time and origin, but they have a common goal. Both movements have emerged as responses to the prevailing socio-political climates of their times, advocating for spiritual enlightenment and an inherent connection to the nature. This essay explores the confluence of Engaged Buddhism and Transcendentalism in Boston, examining their philosophical underpinnings, historical contexts, and the enduring impact they have had on the city’s cultural and intellectual landscape. |
