Author(s) Dr. Karthik P, Mrs. Vyshnavi G

Abstract The rapid expansion of digital payment systems in India, particularly the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), has significantly transformed the way financial transactions are conducted by improving convenience, speed, and accessibility. With increasing adoption across diverse user groups, there is growing interest in understanding whether such technological advancements influence consumer spending behaviour. This study explores the relationship between digital payment usage and expenditure patterns by examining factors such as convenience, security, and frequency of use. The findings suggest that while digital payment systems enhance transactional efficiency, their impact on overall consumer spending behaviour remains limited, indicating a largely neutral behavioural effect.
