Sugarcane Bagasse as a Partial Replacement in Concrete

Author(s) Mr. Shyam Sundar Sahani, Om Prakash Pal

Abstract Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials, but its production requires large amounts of cement, which contributes to environmental pollution and high carbon emissions. To address this issue, researchers are exploring the use of agricultural waste materials as partial replacements in concrete.Sugarcane bagasse, a byproduct of the sugar industry, is produced in large quantities and often disposed of as waste. In this study, sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) is used as a partial replacement for cement in concrete. Different proportions of SCBA are added to evaluate its effect on compressive strength, workability, and durability. The results show that partial replacement of cement with SCBA can improve certain properties of concrete while also reducing environmental impact and cost. This study highlights the potential of using sugarcane bagasse ash as a sustainable and eco-friendly material in construction.
